Fecal Egg Count — Instructions
Follow the sample preparation, flotation, and microscopic examination procedure below before submitting images for analysis.
Sample preparation
Take 1 gram of fecal sample and mix thoroughly with 20–30 mL of tap water.
Filter the sample
Pour the mixture through a tea strainer to remove large debris.
Centrifuge
Centrifuge the filtered mixture at 2,000 RPM for 5 minutes.
Flotation
Remove the supernatant and transfer the mixture into a flotation tube. Add saturated salt solution drop by drop and place a coverslip directly on the top of the liquid meniscus.
Microscopic examination
After 5 minutes, place the coverslip on a clean microscopic slide and observe at 10× magnification.
